Catherine Anne
Catherine Anne O'Hara, OC was born March 4, 1954. She is a comedian from Canada, actress, and writer. O'Hara has won numerous awards, including the Genie Award (a Golden Globe Award) as well as two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition, O'Hara was awarded six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, O'Hara was appointed to the rank of an Officer of Canada. She also received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara made her name as an actress as a member in 1974 of The Second City, an Improvisational comedy troupe based out of Toronto. She was a part of the principal cast in the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978) along with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd. In the following year, O'Hara and Candy began working in the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984) and she earned praise from critics for her performance as a comedic actress and as a writer. She was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1981. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the brand-new Second City artistic advisory board headed by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura, Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
